Continuing Education
Jennifer not only teaches crafts, but she also continues to sharpen her
own business and artistic skills. In 2002, she attended a conference and
courses at the 2002 Arts Business Conference jointly held by the Arts
Business Institute and the American Craft Council held at Longwood College
in Farmville, Virginia. There she attended seminars dealing with topics
ranging from marketing, preparing for the jury process, and wholesaling
crafts. She also recently completed a course in precious metal clay (PMC)
at the Torpedo Factory's Art League in Alexandria, Virginia. There Jennifer
learned how to sculpt jewelry from clay, fired at temperatures exceeding
1,400 degrees. During the firing process, all non-metal components of
the clay burn off, leaving a solid metal piece. Jennifer plans to incorporate
this medium into her own work. Stay tuned! To learn more about these organizations,
check out their websites at www.craftcouncil.org, www.artsbusinessinstitute.org,
